Once again we have been booked by a hotel directly: from Hotel Kristall in Großarl. To be booked by a hotel means a hell of a lot of hotel photos and also means that our car will not be moved for a whole week. Something different for a change.
Hotel Kristall has rebuild and extended their building so that photos were needed from the new restaurant and lobby area as well as from the new rooms. Because family Hettegger new our shooting method a lot of things have been perfectly prepared and so the shooting went quite smoothly and quickly.
Anyway. There has still been enough time to visit the Salzburg mountain advent and also walk the chapel hiking path.
At the mountain advent in Großarl the village center becomes a christmas market. Everywhere there are huts where handmade things and culinary varieties can be admired and be purchased as well of course. The car traffic is partly banned for the market.
Right at the center of the village the nativity scene way leads up to the nativity scene building society. All along the way there are display cabinets where totally different nativity scenes are on display. Some are peasant or regional others are located in the orient.
But all of them are the result of monthlong handwork. At the house of the nativity scene building society you can admire much more nativity scenes built by young and old. Very impressing.
The chapel hiking path in Großarl is much longer. It goes up all the way until the valley end. But you can walk only parts of it. We went some may into the valley and then came back via the panorama path and the hills to Unterberg. Though the way is supposed to be walkable only from April to November, the conditions were quite good in December. But this year's December has been more like April or November anyway…
The discovery of the week has been the hydro-jet-massage though. Here you are massaged by water nuzzles while you lie on a heated water bed. Because the nuzzles are in the water bed you don't get wet and can enjoy the massage completely dressed. As we spent quite some time sitting bent over the laptop we once in a while experience a back or neck hardening. So we very much enjoyed some hydrojetmassages in-between. A massage sessions lasts 20 minutes so that you can easily insert it in you daily routine. Without appointment and as already mentioned above without changing clothes. That was a real treat that we will miss.
In Großarl everything can be reached within walking distance. So our car has been parked nearly the whole time. But to the valley end we drove. This is worth a visit. Where all the ways end and the mountains block the road it gets really romantic and mystical. We strongly recommend a visit!
