When you are in Portugal it is kind of inevitable to visit the most western point of Europe. No sooner said than done.
The view is stunning. Unfortunately there is no special spot for the obligatory photographic proof. Otherwise there is some hustle and bustle and there are some booths. You can also get the famous last Bratwurst before America…
You can also climb through the rocks. But be careful. There are no barriers and it might be stormy.
On our way back we stopped at the beach of Beliche. A wide way with short steps leads down to the beach. There are some surfers to be seen and there are some visitors. You can rent parasols and there is a beach bar. Small, quiet, cozy and beautiful.
There are two restaurants at the street. That’s it. We have been to Terra. There you can get the best pasteis de nata. It is also nicely decorated with old stuff and driftwood.
We went on to Praia do Bordeira. First we had lunch at the ‚O Sitio do Rio‘. They serve traditional food. The tv is running without sound and the radio is playing. Fish and meat are grilled on charcoal. But you can also get vegetarian food like salads or cheese.
Refreshed we went to the beach. It is huge and lies in the middle of sand dunes. There are long pedestrian bridges which lead to view points but also down to the beach. There are some kite surfers which like the wind. But there is also enough space for sun lovers and shell collectors. A small bar with cold drinks and surf boards for rent is located offside.
The sun set we watched in Ferragudo. In this small fisher village there exists only a dozen restaurants and a handful of alleys. Small fisher boats float in the small harbor and the sun shines scenic over the bay. A nice ending for a day tour.
