Wandern Wilder See Ruhestein Schwarzwald

Week 8: Visits and Photo Prohibition

Our eighth week was again quite hot but we visited some places anyway… First we moved to Landhaus Karin and really enjoyed our stay there with family Hanisch who are big Africa fans and even have an african wellness area. The beginning of the week was very hot. I mean really hot – like 36 degrees. But we had a nice shadowy balcony and that was nice. We visited the Schwarzwald Plus Academy which was about social media. And let me tell you something: The internet won’t go away!!! Then we went to an even hotter place: Dorotheenhütte, where until today glasblowing is made. There we could also have a look on christmas decoration. Don’t forget! Christmas is coming soon! (Though you don’t want to hear that right now!) We have visited the romantic village Schiltach, with its historic half-timbered centre and went for a cool down to the brewery

Week 7: Heatwave and Baden Baden

Our seventh week we spent at the Landhotel Jägerstüble. From there it is not that far to Baden Baden. Therefore we spent two whole days there… But first things first… We already have been a week in Schwarzenberg. It is a very calm village but on the other hand time seems to stand still there also, as we found „one slice of bread with imitation lox“ on the menu. Our mobile router only worked in the flower-box at the balcony. https://twitter.com/DieMeurers/status/615456117309767680 But the village has a beautiful wine well. A must see. Another must see is the observation deck Ellbachseeblick in Kniebis. It is not really barrier free – as described – but worth a visit. We have to come here again in the early morning at the sunrise. (Did I really say early??) Kniebis has another stunning hiking trail: the Kniebiser Heimatpfad. It goes surprisingly enough trough a hotel

Week 5 Cold and Cake

During our fifth waltz week we were mainly trying to get better and did not do very much. We moved to the Sackmanns and tried to relax there from week four. We just did one thing but this very thoroughly which was very nice: We visited a black forest cake baking class. Awesome! Are there other courses or workshops where you can learn to prepare a regional culinary speciality? Like ‘Himmel und Äd’ in Cologne or ‘Salzburger Nockerln’ in Salzburg? Write your tipps in a comment, please! We enjoyed the class! We were allowed to also watch the preparation the day before and the actual class was very funny. We could try out everything, cut the sponge bake case, decorate the cream and try the ingredients of course. And we learned a lot of tricks. A very interesting adventure!   In fine spirit and trying to get healthy we start

Week four with some challenges

Week 4 was completely different to the first three weeks. No so happy living. There were right away some challenges… We changed flats on Saturday. Unfortunately we left the new flat again on Monday afternoon. Disadvantages and weather conditions made our basement flat quite wet. After two nights in moist sheets and moldy cellar smell we gave up. SchwarzwaldPlus were very quick and helpful and we packed again and moved to another flat. From that Achim caught a cold and became ill. Being ill was not in our concept of waltzing. I am afraid we have to think about that and change the concept slightly… We did a lot that week anyway. While waiting for the new flat, we have visited the Hamburg Fish Market in Freudenstadt and have been to an arts and craft market. And we went with a chairlift and tried to go by pedal boat and

First week of waltzing

The first week of waltzing is over. And we experienced a lot. We have met very nice hosts at Gasthof Kröll. We hat too many and too long meetings and business talks. We met very interesting personalities. We watched how cheese and bread and fresh cheese is made and how fish is smoked. We planned far too much for one week. We have too many things with us and have to get rid of some of it. (Did we talk about storage?) We got some functional clothing. We had to buy hard disks already. We still fight with bureaucracy. We went hiking and saw a keltic place. We arranged the stuff in our suitcases in a new way. We ate very yummy things. We made not enough yoga. We discovered at the end of the week the fitness room of the Gasthof. We relaxed in the sauna. We spent some Euros at

Third Week of Waltzing is over

Hui! Time is running while waltzing. That’s for sure! We experience so much and wham – one week is gone. So the third week is over. We moved from Salzburger Land to the Black Forest. Both have beautiful landscapes. One has higher mountains. And the houses look completely different. But concerning the language we would need subtitles in both regions.. We are in the Black Forest for Schwarzwald-Plus and have to document all adventures. That’s something… First of all we went to the car wash. Of course after such a long journey the car is dirty. Then we visited two different golf courses. We did not know how beautiful these courses can be. And we went with a golf car. Yeah! That was fun! We found out that you can instead of a golf bag transport as well a photo bag… https://twitter.com/DieMeurers/status/605701688306094080 We have been to the underground parking in Freudenstadt

Woche 2 unserer Walz

First Day Waltzing

It’s done. We are on our way. Waltzing. The last preparations were once again quite stressy. To give away all our food and spices was very difficult. We should talk about stockpiling… Packing was another challenge. A lot of things had to be left behind. Again big sacks were filled. Incredible! A small comfort is that we did not throw away our things but gave them to very nice people and know that they are welcome and will be used. If this would have landed in the trash… Awful! But finally everything was packed and even stored in the car. Rosalinde was on board… And we started. Our first stop is in the region Salzburgerland. Driving there felt strange and not real. It was not really clear that we will be going on and on and on. Maybe it will finally come to our minds. And maybe our nerves will calm

Countdown

The Countdown is on

The clock is ticking and the Big Day is getting nearer. On May 17 we will start our waltzing 2.0 and it is very exciting. The other day we reached the point of no return and cancelled the contract for our rented house. A huge step! We are very busy now sorting all our stuff. Every single item that we touch now is valued. Will it join us at our waltzing? Will it be sold or given away? I would love to put a sticker on every bit at the moment so that I do not have to remember to which category I have put this specific object before. And sometimes of course we change our mind. Especially after talking about it. “Will you give your records away?” “Yes of course!” “But wouldn’t you like to keep your first self recorded LP?” “Now that you mention it. Of course not!”

Hello World – we are coming!

„Hello world“ is the standard example post in every fresh installed wordpress version. In our case, it fits! We say „hello world – we are coming“. Our website is now online and we hit the point of no return… In the next weeks we’ll post a bit of how we get ready for our project, how we prepare to be on tour for 2 years or maybe longer, carrying only a limited amount of clothing & stuff, having „no home“ for that time, and…. But one thing we can say by now: It’s more work than you would think. But it’s fun and we are really thrilled about it and looking forward to start in May!
