Black Forest

Barfußpark Dornstetten

Barefoot in the park

One important part of our waltzing concept is to do something different and to look beyond one’s own nose. One new thing was the barefoot park in Dornstetten-Hallwang. A car park routeing system leads you to the different parking places. Please don’t wonder when you see a parking ticket machine in the middle of the forest. That’s alright. The park is for example  financed through the parkin fees. So please do not cheat, but get a ticket. After you have parked the car, you walk through a wooden gate and stroll over bark mulch. The signs are quite clear. It is a foot. A good start. At the real entrance you will find lockers for your shoes. We were cowards and took our shoes with us because we thought we might need them in-between. So we put them in our bag and used the shoelaces to carry them. And then

Week 9: CulinaryArts and Co

In Week nine it was about culinary arts but also some leisure time fun. We moved again. This time into the holiday flat Murgtalblick. And the name is right. You can look quite far from the top there. First we tried the nature golf at Klosterreichenbach. This is so funny. You only play nine holes but they are anything but plane. You play on cobble stones, wood or sand. And you never know where the ball will jump to… After that we went to see black forest gammon. We learned a lot about the production of this culinary speciality from the black forest. And of course we had a look into the smokehouse and could taste the delicacies. And we went to see pony stables, where you can take a ride in beautiful nature. But we forwent it… Weather has been summer like again this week so we visited two

Week 8: Visits and Photo Prohibition

Our eighth week was again quite hot but we visited some places anyway… First we moved to Landhaus Karin and really enjoyed our stay there with family Hanisch who are big Africa fans and even have an african wellness area. The beginning of the week was very hot. I mean really hot – like 36 degrees. But we had a nice shadowy balcony and that was nice. We visited the Schwarzwald Plus Academy which was about social media. And let me tell you something: The internet won’t go away!!! Then we went to an even hotter place: Dorotheenhütte, where until today glasblowing is made. There we could also have a look on christmas decoration. Don’t forget! Christmas is coming soon! (Though you don’t want to hear that right now!) We have visited the romantic village Schiltach, with its historic half-timbered centre and went for a cool down to the brewery

Goggo Gretel stellt sich in Pose

About slowing down with a goggomobil and social traveling

We already have referred to other people waltzing. Now we have discovered two more. And one we were even able to meet… Bianca Schäb is Frohlein auf Reisen. She ist traveling through Germany searching for a slow down for her life. She does that with Gretel her goggomobil with caravan. Kind of slow travel… We met her in Tübingen and talked about traveling, letting go and slowing down. There are some parallels between our two different concepts and we really enjoyed talking to her. At the end of her tour there will be a movie or rather a web series. We all squeezed together including all the camera gear and drove a little through Tübingen. And Achim made some shots of Gretel of course in front of a wonderful setting. Honestly! Isn’t it cute??? The second traveler we have not (yet) met personally. He is the Social Traveler and has to solve

Festspielhaus Baden-Baden Woche7 Schwarzwald Walz

Week 7: Heatwave and Baden Baden

Our seventh week we spent at the Landhotel Jägerstüble. From there it is not that far to Baden Baden. Therefore we spent two whole days there… But first things first… We already have been a week in Schwarzenberg. It is a very calm village but on the other hand time seems to stand still there also, as we found „one slice of bread with imitation lox“ on the menu. Our mobile router only worked in the flower-box at the balcony. https://twitter.com/DieMeurers/status/615456117309767680 But the village has a beautiful wine well. A must see. Another must see is the observation deck Ellbachseeblick in Kniebis. It is not really barrier free – as described – but worth a visit. We have to come here again in the early morning at the sunrise. (Did I really say early??) Kniebis has another stunning hiking trail: the Kniebiser Heimatpfad. It goes surprisingly enough trough a hotel

Week 6: Quite a lot to do

Though not really completely feeling healthy we started into week 6 of our waltz. We moved to the beautiful Schwarzwald-Chalet. And because the weather was also quite nice we experienced a lot of adventures from Schwarzwald Plus. We visited the Auto- und Uhrenwelt, an exhibition about clocks and cars. But it is not only about vehicles but you can see a lot about the living in the times after the second world war. You should bring some time because a few steps away there is the car collection Steim with very nice luxury cars. So there is quite a lot to admire. We have been to the Subiaco Cinema in Freudenstadt. It is very cosy with some sofas and maybe the most comfortable cinema seats in Germany. The snacks come from the ‚Weltladen‘ and the programme is very wide and there are also some movies in the original language. We

Uhren- und Automuseum Schramberg

About clocks, cars and other funny vehicles

We have been to the Clock and Car Museum in Schramberg and have been completely faszinated by all those unusual, unique and creative vehicles. What clocks have to do with cars you will learn at the museum. Four full floors in an old industrial building show all about mobility in the time after world war 2. Whether bicycle, moped, motorbike or three- or four-wheeled vehicle; it seems there were no boundaries for ideas at this time. You will see amazing coulours and forms. But there is also a lot information about live after the war. Therefore the museum is not only interesting for car lovers. Many allday live scenes are exposed like a hairdresser, a shop or just a living room. Pro-Tipp:  Bring enough time! Only a couple of meters away is the Car Collection Steim located. It is not about the vehicles of the man in the street. Here you find

Week 5 Cold and Cake

During our fifth waltz week we were mainly trying to get better and did not do very much. We moved to the Sackmanns and tried to relax there from week four. We just did one thing but this very thoroughly which was very nice: We visited a black forest cake baking class. Awesome! Are there other courses or workshops where you can learn to prepare a regional culinary speciality? Like ‚Himmel und Äd‘ in Cologne or ‚Salzburger Nockerln‘ in Salzburg? Write your tipps in a comment, please! We enjoyed the class! We were allowed to also watch the preparation the day before and the actual class was very funny. We could try out everything, cut the sponge bake case, decorate the cream and try the ingredients of course. And we learned a lot of tricks. A very interesting adventure!   In fine spirit and trying to get healthy we start
