Week 93: Our Waltzing Vehicle was equipped

Week 93 was all about wood and constructing. Our new Waltzing Vehicle ‚Matilda‘ was equipped near Graz – where we have lived for four years – and got beautiful wooden furniture. https://twitter.com/DieMeurers/status/795687507480428544 We already hat thought about the interior for hours and have drawn sketches. But now it got serious. The material was ordered and we were ready to start the equipping. https://twitter.com/DieMeurers/status/836654990651502593 First the car got an isolation. Some parts got two or even three layers. https://twitter.com/DieMeurers/status/836656126498308096 Achim has been all the time in the workshop and helped. After that the cabinets and storage rooms was built. https://twitter.com/DieMeurers/status/837009769051394049 Again and again the pieces had to be adjusted because inside of the car there was no straight line. Everywhere something stood out or there were slants. https://twitter.com/DieMeurers/status/837367186918375425 The furniture had to carried in and out each time and had to be assembled anew. What a job. https://twitter.com/DieMeurers/status/837744819812331524 But Günther from ‚Creative Service‘

Parking is different now and some car parks we cannot use any more because of the hight. Everything is new… Sunday we did a short trip. We have been in the region a couple of times but we never managed to use the historical lift in Bad Schandau. But this time we did it and went up to enjoy the view. Afterwards we walked along the river Elbe a bit on the promenade. Georgeous. In the evening we went again to the cinema and afterwards visited a famous restaurant in Pirna. If you need tipps. Week 91: At the Aktivity Hotel

We drove in bright sunshine to our next hotel in Pirna. One of the shortest travels during Waltzing. The saved time we used to visit a ‚Carcassonne‘ fan meeting at the Festung Königstein. Quite interesting that people play for hours at the old castle. There was much going on. Afterwards we had a walk through the snow. When the sun is finally shining… And then there has been a very special day within this week: We got our new waltzing vehicle. It was delivered on Tuesday and we sold our beloved „Touri“ that accompanied us for 120.000 km and brought us to the most stunning places. Pah!! https://twitter.com/DieMeurers/status/831544653442928641 So now we have a new on. Twitter folk suggested that we call the new car „Matilda“ according to ‚Waltzing Matilda‘. That is a very nice name. And as ‚matilda‘ carried the most precious belongings of the shearers in old times our

Week 90: At the Bastei

During our 90th week of waltzing we stayed at the Basteihotel. So we have been as near to the Bastei as possible. We were so excited thinking that we could go anytime to admire this stunning view… if the weather would have been playing along. Like while our first visit all the nice and beautiful rocks were hiding behind grey clouds. Only once there were some sunbeams visible at sunrise. So Achim quickly run to take some photos of it. But we have tried other activities than hiking. A discovery was dipping candles. That was a real delight. We did some photos of the rooms and the restaurant in the hotel. And we did some research on what coold be interesting for a book addict at Saxon Switzerland. I had to visit two doctors. The first was a dentist. And it was nothing serious. The pain came from the teethridge instead

Visit Saxon Switzerland in Winter

What can you do in Saxon Switzerland in the winter times? You would think there is not much to be wenn or to do. We have been there and have tried it out. First of all you can do what you would do the rest of the year: Hiking. Most hiking paths are accessible. Also with snow. You should have good shoes, sticks and maybe spikes. But you can go hiking. With or without snow. And you can stopp at an Inn. Many ‚Baude‘ are open even in winter. Different opening hours are given at the beginning of a hiking trail so that there should be no surprises when arriving. The menu might be smaller, too, but you will get hot drinks to warm up or cold drinks if you are really thirsty. Tipp: Stay a little bit longer, even after the Baude has closed to enjoy the sunset! You can

A Bookworm in Saxon Switzerland

As a self-confessed bookworm for me it is always important to be informed about books in a region. So I had a look how a bookworm would get its food in Saxon Switzerland. There are several possibilities of course: Hotels/Accomodations In many hotels or appartments your can find an assortment of books, that you can read during your stay. Some have more some have less books. In some hotel rooms you will find a test sample and you can buy the book afterwards at the reception. Some suites are also equipped with a handful of books. In other hotels you will see a book shelf at the lobby or they have a library also equipped with nice and cosy armchair so that you can just stay there and get lost in a book. Some times you can order a snack or you will get served coffee and cake. Library In
